COMMON QUESTIONS
The thoughts that stop people booking, answered honestly.
I WILL WAIT AND SEE IF IT SETTLES
Waiting only works if it is getting better.
Some things do settle on their own. If yours has not improved in a week or two, keeps coming back, or is changing how you sleep, work or train, an assessment now usually saves time rather than costing it.
I HAVE TRIED PHYSIO BEFORE
A rub and a sheet of exercises is not a plan.
Your first hour here is spent finding what is actually driving the pain, then building treatment and exercise around that finding. You will know what we are doing, why, and what should change and when.
I DO NOT HAVE A REFERRAL OR A SCAN
You do not need either.
Book directly. A physiotherapist can assess most pain and injuries without imaging. If a scan or a GP review would genuinely help, we will tell you and explain why.
I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE COST
No packages, and you can claim on the spot.
We do not sell blocks of sessions. Most private health extras cover physiotherapy and we claim with HICAPS before you leave. Medicare, NDIS and WorkCover routes are explained further down.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN THIS
If you have been told to rest it and see, you deserve a clearer answer.
A back that locks up every few weeks. A shoulder that wakes you at night. A knee that stops you running, or a neck that is sore by the end of every workday. Pain that has you skipping the gym, the footy or time on the floor with the kids.
Most people put up with it for months before they book, hoping it sorts itself out. You do not have to wait until it is bad enough. The sooner we know what is going on, the simpler it usually is to turn around.
WHAT WE SEE EVERY DAY
YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT
What happens in your first hour, so nothing is a surprise.
One hour, one to one, with a qualified physiotherapist. Here is exactly how it runs.
We listen first.Where it hurts, when it started, what makes it better or worse, and what it is stopping you doing. The goal you want to get back to shapes everything after this.
We find the cause. We assess how you move, load and control the area, and the joints above and below it. Pain often shows up in one place because of something happening in another.
We treat you on the day.Hands-on treatment, exercise or both, chosen for what we found. Most people leave the first appointment already knowing what helps.
We explain it in plain English. What is going on, why, and what we can change. No jargon, no scare tactics, and no rushing you out the door.
You leave with a plan.Written down, with exercises in our app, how often to come back and what progress should look like over the next few weeks.
A few things we want you to know
- Wear something you can move in, and shorts if the problem is below the waist.
- Bring any scans or reports you already have. You do not need them to book.
- Parking is on site at Unit 1/35 Shellharbour Road, Lake Illawarra.
We’re ready to help you take that first step.

Most people we see waited longer than they needed to. Whenever you are ready is the right time.
CONDITIONS
What physiotherapy can help you with.
Physiotherapy assesses and treats pain and injury in muscles, joints, tendons and nerves, then rebuilds the strength and movement that keeps it from coming back.
Back pain and sciatica
Flare-ups, disc related pain, stiffness and pain down the leg. We settle the pain first, then build a back you can trust again.
Neck pain and headaches
Desk-related stiffness, whiplash and tension-type headaches, treating the neck and the habits that load it.
Shoulder and elbow pain
Rotator cuff pain, frozen shoulder, bursitis, and tennis or golfer's elbow.
Hip and knee pain
Bursitis, osteoarthritis, kneecap pain, and ACL and meniscus injuries.
Foot, ankle and heel pain
Plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy and ankle sprains that keep coming back.
Sports injuries and return to sport
Structured rehab and return-to-sport testing, so you go back when you are ready, not just when the pain happens to ease.
Rehab after surgery
Rebuilding after joint replacements, ACL reconstruction and other surgery, alongside your surgeon's protocol.
Three ways to start, pick whichever feels easiest.

COST AND CLAIMING
Your investment and how to claim.
You can book directly without a GP referral. Most private health extras cover physiotherapy, and you can claim on the spot.
| Route | What you need | Claiming |
|---|---|---|
| Private, no referral | Nothing, just book | Private health extras, claimed on the spot with HICAPS |
| Medicare | A GP Chronic Disease Management plan | Medicare rebate applies to eligible sessions |
| NDIS | Plan-managed or self-managed | We can invoice directly |
| WorkCover | A referral | Bulk billed to the relevant scheme |
First appointment is one hour. Follow-ups are usually 30 to 40 minutes, and how often depends on you, not on a package. We do not sell blocks of sessions.
We take Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Afterpay, and HICAPS claiming happens on the spot.
FAQS
The questions people ask us most often.
Do I need a referral to see a physio?
No. You can book directly. A referral is only needed if you are claiming through Medicare, WorkCover or some private health arrangements.
Do I need a scan or X-ray first?
No. Most pain and injuries can be assessed without imaging. If a scan would genuinely change your treatment, your physiotherapist will explain why and what to do next.
How long is the first appointment?
One hour, one to one, with a qualified physiotherapist. Follow-ups are usually 30 to 40 minutes.
Will I get treatment at my first appointment?
Yes. Once we know what is going on, most first appointments include hands-on treatment, exercise or both.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what we find and what you want to get back to. You will get an honest estimate at your first appointment. We do not sell blocks of sessions.
Can I claim on my private health insurance?
Most private health extras cover physiotherapy. We claim on the spot with HICAPS, so you only pay the gap.
Do you see Medicare, NDIS and WorkCover clients?
Yes. Medicare needs a GP Chronic Disease Management plan, NDIS needs a plan-managed or self-managed plan, and WorkCover needs a referral.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing you can move in, and shorts if the problem is below the waist.
Will I see the same physio each time?
Yes. You see the same physiotherapist each visit, so you are not explaining your story again every time.
Where are you?
