About

Laura is a senior physiotherapist at RX Physiotherapy in Shellharbour.

Her approach is grounded in understanding the individual — what they value, what they want to achieve, and how their condition is impacting their life. Laura focuses on meaningful outcomes, not generic treatment plans.

She uses a combination of manual therapy, strength training, pain management, patient education and personalised rehabilitation programs to help clients move better, feel stronger and build confidence in their body.

Laura has experience across acute and chronic injuries, post-operative rehabilitation, strength and endurance training, falls prevention, and neurological conditions including stroke and brain injury.

She also has a strong clinical interest in working with people with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder and TMJ dysfunction. Her calm and collaborative style helps clients feel understood, supported and more confident navigating long-term or complex conditions.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why did you become a physiotherapist?

I became a physiotherapist because I wanted to help people improve their quality of life in a way that feels meaningful to them.

For some people, that means returning to sport. For others, it means walking with more confidence, managing pain, recovering after surgery, or feeling more in control of a complex condition.

I enjoy understanding the person behind the injury or diagnosis, then helping them build a plan that feels clear, achievable and relevant to their life.

Why do people usually see you?

People often see me for musculoskeletal injuries, post-operative rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, TMJ dysfunction, hypermobility, EDS, HSD, NDIS support and long-term rehabilitation planning.

Many people come in feeling unsure about what they should be doing or frustrated that they have not had a clear plan before.

My role is to understand what is happening, explain it clearly, and guide them through a structured plan that supports their goals.

What is your approach to EDS and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders?

My approach is based on understanding the person’s full presentation, not just looking at one joint or one painful area.

For people with EDS or Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder, treatment may involve education, strength training, joint control work, proprioception, pacing strategies, movement retraining and long-term planning.

The goal is to help people feel more stable, confident and supported in their body.

What is your approach to TMJ dysfunction?

TMJ dysfunction can involve the jaw, neck, muscles, nervous system and movement patterns around the face and upper body.

My approach is to assess the jaw properly, understand the symptoms, and identify the factors that may be contributing to pain, clicking, locking or restricted movement.

Treatment may include education, manual therapy, jaw exercises, neck treatment, muscular release strategies and movement retraining where appropriate.

What is your approach to neurological rehabilitation?

Neurological rehabilitation needs to be individual, structured and meaningful.

I work with people who may be recovering after stroke, brain injury or other neurological conditions, helping them improve strength, mobility, balance, confidence and independence.

The plan depends on the person’s goals, current function and support needs.

What do you do outside the clinic?

Outside the clinic, I enjoy hiking up mountains, writing music, playing soccer, and training for the occasional triathlon or running event.
